Parquet Floor Installation

Coventry Parquet Floor Fitters

Also known as mosaic flooring, parquet flooring is, traditionally speaking, a type of wood flooring made by combining wooden tiles in a pattern to create various geometric designs. Tiles are cut in different shapes: triangles, squares, diamonds, and others. You can then lay these shapes to create patterns such as herringbone, chevron, and plenty others. The herringbone pattern is one of the most popular designs in the UK.

The parquet strips are usually made of hardwood which is one of the main reasons why parquet flooring is similar in both look and performance to traditional hardwood flooring. Parquet flooring is very versatile, and the charm and warmth of real wood can give your house or commercial property a very elegant and timeless look.

The pattern you choose for your parquet floor will have an impact on the perspective of your room and can help create the impression of a wider or longer space. Parquet floors are also warmer and softer underfoot than other types of floors such as stoner or ceramic. They are very resistant so they are a good fit for rooms with a high foot traffic and movable furniture. A beautiful parquet floor will also add value to your home by making the spaces in your property more elegant, brighter, and cosier. They are very durable and very low maintenance and with the proper care it should easily last over 10 years, making it a very popular type of flooring.

What are the Types of Parquet Flooring?

There are two main types of parquet flooring: solid wood parquet flooring and engineered parquet flooring. Solid wood parquet floors are similar to traditional hardwood floors as they are made using solid pieces of the type of timber you desire.

On the other hand, engineered parquet flooring is made from layers of different kinds of wood, which are then topped by your chosen hardwood. The types of wood you can choose from typically include oak, maple, pine, cherry, walnut, and some other exotic hardwoods that we can analyse and recommend to you.

Professional vs. DIY Parquet Floor Installation

Nowadays, most modern types of parquet floors come in a specific form where the wood slates are bonded to a material, while before, most traditional parquet floors had to be installed one piece at a time. The modern types we have today are easier and faster to install. Once the desired pattern is chosen, the parquet floor installation is done by combining the tiles and putting them together either with glue, nails, or with staples.

Although some people enjoy DIY projects, installing parquet flooring is not suited to any level of DIY experience. This type of floor fitting needs to be carefully planned and installed to avoid issues such as uneven surfaces or poor installation which is prone to humidity and damages that will shorten the life of your floor.

At Coventry Floor Sanding we are experts at parquet floor installation. We have a team of professionals with over 15 years of experience that is highly skilled and will use the best tools and products to make sure your new parquet floor is installed smoothly without any issues
